Turn your project data into answers
Your Microsoft Project MPP file contains information about the schedule, resources, and progress of your project.
Use the Project Plan 365 ChatGPT Plugin to explore that information through a conversation.
Start with a project overview, then ask focused questions about specific tasks, milestones, or assignments. You do not need to convert your MPP file or manually copy its contents into the chat.
The available answers depend on the information recorded in your project.
Understand your project in a few steps
Step 1 — Start a conversation
Connect the Project Plan 365 plugin to your ChatGPT account. If it is already installed, select Try now from its three-dot menu.
Step 2 — Upload and open your MPP file
Attach your Microsoft Project file and ask the plugin to open it.
Step 3 — Ask about your schedule
Request a summary or ask a specific question about tasks, progress, resources, milestones, or costs.
Step 4 — Explore the details
Review the answer and ask follow-up questions in the same conversation.

Review progress and upcoming work
Ask which milestones are scheduled within a particular period, which tasks remain unfinished, or how progress is distributed across project phases.
For questions about overdue work, specify a reference date and the criteria you want to use. This helps make the analysis clear and relevant to your review.
Example: “Using October 8, 2026 as the reference date, list unfinished tasks whose scheduled finish dates are before that date.”

Analyze your project without changing the schedule
Opening the file, requesting summaries, and asking questions do not apply changes to the project.
If your review identifies something you want to update, request an edit separately. The plugin previews proposed changes and applies them after your approval.
