All constraint types have their own role but only the inflexible constraint override any task dependencies and restrict a task to a date you choose. Constraint effects depend on constraint type and schedule inputs; use the least restrictive option that matches the real requirement, usually being “As Soon As Possible”. Note that a deadline is a target warning, not a date-forcing constraint.
