Network Diagram View

The Microsoft Project Network Diagram is a flowchart-style view: boxes represent tasks, and connecting lines show their dependency relationships. It is useful when you want to inspect the sequence and connections among tasks rather than their placement on a calendar.1

In desktop Project, choose View > Network Diagram. The diagram can display the critical path, and you can use the view to enter, edit, review, or fine-tune tasks and their dependencies. For instructions on changing particular task links, see Task Links and Dependency Editing.

The Relationship Diagram is a separate, more focused view that can show the predecessors and successors of a selected task; it is not the full-project Network Diagram.1

You can customize box placement and spacing, choose automatic or manual positioning, and change link styles, arrows, labels, and the task information displayed in boxes. These controls help make a complex diagram easier to follow while preserving the task relationships represented by its lines.1
