What is a critical path?
A critical path is a series of tasks that dictates the calculated finish date of the project.
How is % complete calculated?
The % complete has the following formula % complete=(Actual Duration/Duration)*100.
Why am I not allowed to modify the Actual Start and Actual Finish fields?
In our application you cannot change the Actual Start Date, but as a workaround, after you created your plan, please set a baseline in order to see a difference between Planned Start Date and Actual Start Date. In this way, the Scheduled Start date is in fact the Baseline Date. After this, if your task actually starts on other date you can change the Start Date for that task. This will be the Actual Date. So, the Actual Date is in fact is the Start Date and the Scheduled Date is he Baseline Date you set in the application when you initially created your plan.
How does the app calculate the start date for a task?
The Start date for a task can be calculated or entered. If you do not type a start date, application calculates a start date based on such things as relationships, calendars, and the scheduling method. If you type a start date, it will be set automatically a Start No Earlier Than constraint which uses the date you type as the constraint date.
How does the app calculate the finish date for a task?
The Finish date for a task can be calculated or entered. The Finish field shows the date when a task is scheduled to be completed. Date the task is scheduled to finish. If you do not type a finish date, application calculates it based on such things as relationships, calendars, and the scheduling method. If resources are assigned, Project also considers the resource calendar and assignment units. If you type a finish date, will be set automatically a Finish No Earlier Than constraint and uses the date you type as the constraint date.
How does the app calculate the duration for a task?
Duration for tasks can be calculated or entered. The duration field is the total span of active working time for a task. Application calculates the duration of a task by counting the amount of active working time between the scheduled start and end of the task.
What is Project Management?
Project Management is a series of activities along the entire lifecycle of a project, meant to ensure that the objectives of the project are accomplished.
What does a Project Manager?
A project manager needs to have knowledge of application, techniques to initiate and plan a project, control its execution, manage resources and close the project.
What is Project Planning?
Project Planning can be defined as a set of activities that aim at developing an action plan which, if followed, ensures that the goals of the project are fulfilled.
What is a Project Planning Tool?
Project Planning Tool is a software used for scheduling, resource allocation and change management. Its main purpose is to facilitate the planning and tracking of project components to be sure it is delivered on time within budget.
What is WBS?
WBS is a decomposition of the entire work of the project on several levels, resulting in a tree structure: the work of the project (first level = root of the tree) is divided in several activities (second level), which, successively may be divided into shorter-term tasks, etc. Successive subdivisions, corresponding to new levels in the tree, may be necessary until the components obtained are manageable in terms of estimates (on duration, costs), work and responsibility.
A task is an activity in the project necessary to reach the project specific goals. It should always have a clear start and finish date.
What is a Project Summary Task?
A Project Summary Task is the task summarizing the entire work of the project; it is the root of the WBS and its duration start and finish dates as well as costs are an aggregate off all the tasks in the project.
A Critical Task is a task for which any delay of its execution draws delays of the project finish date.
What is a Resource Graph?
The Resource Graph is a view that graphically displays information about the resource allocation over time. Resources are displayed in a list and for each selected resource corresponding bars are shown. The bars are colored part in blue for the work span within normal capacities of that resource and part in red for the over allocated work assignments.
How can I move the project to another date?
To move the project to another start date please go to menu File - Options and in Advanced tab check “Show project summary task”. Press Ok.
Then, in Gantt Chart select for the Project summary task the % complete to 0%.
After this go to menu Project - Move Project and select the date you want.
Is it possible to add resources of type Cost in Project Plan 365?
In Project Plan 365 it is possible to add a resource of type Cost.
How many resource types are there ?
The available resource types are work, material and cost.
You can add resources from the Task Information menu. Select resources and write or select the resource/resources you want to add with the % you want the resources or with the number of items.
What is the best way to add a lot of resources for a task?
When you need to add multiple resources for a task the best way to do it is by entering the Task Information dialog box for that specific task.
What impact has not adding resource assignments to the schedule?
If you don't assign resources to tasks in your project, application calculates the schedule using durations, task dependencies, constraints, and project and task calendar information. If you do assign resources, the tasks are also scheduled according to resource calendars and assignment units, providing for more accurate scheduling.
What causes Resource Overallocation?
A resource overallocation can be caused by a resource assigned to work full-time on more than one task at the same time, increased duration of tasks or decreased unit availability for resources.
Costs in resources does not update in real time when I type in percentage in units
