What should I review before using a template for a new project?
Question Link
Answer
Review and adjust its tasks, durations, dependencies, dates, calendars, resources, and constraints so they match the new project’s scope and working conditions.
What is the most efficient constraint type?
Question Link
Answer

All constraint types have their own role but only the inflexible constraint override any task dependencies and restrict a task to a date you choose. Constraint effects depend on constraint type and schedule inputs; use the least restrictive option that matches the real requirement, usually being "As Soon As Possible". Note that a deadline is a target warning, not a date-forcing constraint.

I am not able to change the constraint type of a manual task.
Question Link
Answer

The Constraints Type and the Constraint Date boxes are grayed out for Manual Tasks. Manual Tasks have the main purpose to not have its Start, Finish dates and Duration modified by the Project Plan 365. For this reason, manual tasks should not have any kind of constraints. If you want the app to calculate dates from scheduling inputs, switch the task to automatically scheduled and review the result.

When should I use Percent Complete instead of Percent Work Complete?
Question Link
Answer
Use Percent Complete when progress is best represented by elapsed task duration. Use Percent Work Complete when the measure is completed work against planned work, such as reported hours. The two percentages can differ.
How do I compare planned dates with progress to date?
Question Link
Answer
Save a baseline before tracking begins, record progress using fields supported by the app, and compare the current schedule with the baseline in Tracking Gantt or the Variance table. A baseline is the planned reference; it is not a substitute for entering actual progress.
What happens to a task’s dates when I switch it to Auto Scheduled?
Question Link
Answer
Project Plan 365 recalculates an automatically scheduled task from recognizable scheduling information and the plan’s settings. Review the resulting dates, duration, and dependencies after changing the mode, especially when the task previously contained blank or text values.
Why do some of my tasks have the finish and start dates blank?
Question Link
Answer

Check the Task Mode field first. Manual tasks can retain blank or descriptive date values. If you want Project Plan 365 to calculate the dates, switch the task to Auto Scheduled and review the calculated result.

What information does a baseline store?
Question Link
Answer

A baseline stores a snapshot of planned project values for comparison with later schedule and progress data. It can include task, resource, and assignment values such as start, finish, duration, work, and cost, including time phased values where available. The fields that apply depend on whether the row represents a task, resource, or assignment

When should I set a baseline?
Question Link

Set it after the schedule has been reviewed and approved, before using it to assess progress. If approved scope changes later, use a separate baseline slot or baseline only the changed tasks rather than overwriting the original comparison without documenting why.
